Together for Better Cities

Europe’s first eTree was installed in the French city of Nevers to highlight the city’s digital engagement. The tree-like street furniture is equipped with solar panels and provides residents with free amenities such as community information, Wi-Fi, mobile charging stations, a drinking water fountain, and evening lighting. This project is the first in a series from a long-term collaboration between JCDecaux and the startup company Solar Tree Europ, which created the solar-powered connection for the street furniture.

We design and deliver public toilets completely free of charge to our cities. We are responsible for service and operation of the toilets, which, thanks to their technology, are always kept clean and fresh with automatic cleaning after each use.

JCDecaux invented the first designed bus shelter with integrated advertising display in 1964 to benefit public transport passengers. Sedum roofs on bus shelters are a small measure with a big impact. The roof vegetation reduces noise, absorbs exhaust gases, and decreases the risk of street flooding, as a 6 m² sedum roof binds 100 liters of water.

JCDecaux has developed, installed, and managed the operation of advertising-funded bike rental systems since 2003. All of our existing bike rental systems have been continuously improved based on the experience we have gained over time. With approximately 47,000 bikes, 3,650 stations, and over 225 million recorded rentals, JCDecaux is today the world’s leading company in bike rental systems.

Escale Numérique, “Digital Break” in French, is the successful result of a close collaboration between JCDecaux and designer Mathieu Lahanneur. This urban development project in Paris aimed to create a beautiful bus shelter in a harmonious and peaceful atmosphere where city residents can enjoy free Wi-Fi and city information via a digital screen.

Norman Foster is one of the world’s most influential architects, known for his innovative and distinctly modern buildings.
