On August 21, a new, state-of-the-art and universally accessible public restroom was inaugurated in the heart of Lötsjöparken. Martin Solberg (MP), Commissioner for Sundbyberg Municipality, was on site to cut the ribbon.

The restroom is strategically located between the pergola and the Gröna Stugans café below Ursviksvägen, is free to use, and is open around the clock. It is equipped with an automatic sanitizing system that cleans both the toilet bowl and the floor after each visit, ensuring a clean and fresh experience for everyone.

Martin Solberg (MP) is pleased that Lötsjöparken now has a public restroom that makes visiting the park possible without toilet-related stress.

– A new accessible and modern public restroom around Lötsjön has been greatly anticipated. With this, our parks become even more welcoming and inclusive for all residents and visitors of Sundbyberg, whether you are here for a walk, play, or a fika, says Martin Solberg (MP), Commissioner for Sundbyberg Municipality.

The restroom is equipped with a built-in drinking water fountain where you can easily quench your thirst directly or refill your bottle with cold water. There is also a special dog water bowl so that the park’s four-legged friends always have access to cold, fresh water. As a welcome greeting to the four-legged guests, the first 50 dog owners at the inauguration received an exclusive “doggy bag” with samples from Magnussons Petfood.

The exterior of the restroom was designed by the architectural firm DinellJohansson in collaboration with landscape architect Sara Hambraeus from the City of Sundbyberg. The reflective surface captures the light from Lötsjön, making the building blend into the sensitive park environment. The initiative for the built-in dog water bowl came from an employee within the City of Sundbyberg.

The restroom is owned and operated by JCDecaux, which has extensive experience in creating smart and sustainable solutions for urban environments.

– We are pleased to deliver this restroom to the Municipality of Sundbyberg completely free of charge for taxpayers. In addition to the sanitizing system and water fountain for our four-legged friends, this restroom is accessible far beyond the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s (Boverket’s) requirements for accessibility, something we are very proud of, says Malin Otterström, Head of Communications at JCDecaux.
